Got out a little today and think I might have found a 1864-L variety Indian Head?
I went back to where I found my civil war lead a couple hunts ago. Added a single 3 ringer to the pile, a couple Sunoco tokens, and a wheat. Got the wheat my next hit after digging the 3 ringer. Both the lead and wheats were coming up 79-80 so thought I had a second bullet, I'll still take the wheat.
The 1864 Indian I dug I think might be the L variety? Anyone have any knowledge with these I'd appreciate your help.

I'm not sure what's more impressive...the nice 1864 "L" type IH cent you dug...or the fact that it was in such great shape you could make out the L ! Congrats deershed..great finds..ddf

Thanks!! It's in pretty good shape considering it probably laid in the ground 150 years or so. You can see something where the L should be but, the neckband is also pointed suggesting it's the L variety.

Big congrats on your 1864-L and welcome to the club. Not many in the club. I pulled this one up last year.

Thanks!! Wow, your 64 doesn't even look like it came from the ground. That's one Sweet Indian!!
Can you make out the L on your coin? On mine it looks more like a P then an L. Lol
I've got 2 other 1864's I'll have to dig out and see if any of those are the L variety.
