O yeah!

Sunday afternoon I went back to the field that produced two large cents yesterday. I started a grid search and stuck with it. Lots of brass, iron rings x 2, brass buckels x 2, lead, and copper pieces. About 2 hours in I get a solid hit in the 70s on the Fisher and down five inches is a round disk. No field id was possible due to the wear on the piece, but some work at home revealed a figure facing right and a harp on the reverse, a George III half penny, my first!

Finally found a flat button in this field.

Other finds of note are the lantern part and a curious copper ball with shank.

Thanks for checking out the pics and video of the halfpenny dig.

Thx JackalopeZL1! You know I'm thinking half dime. Best part is, I've got a great place to detect until they decide to plant the fields.

Thanks much, Tommy! Back to work tomorrow, so it will be several days until I return to the field. We're getting rain now. Guess you're getting snow.

If it was detected before you know we dont get it all. Lol I'd say it hasn't been done but, you just never know. Hit it a few more times and see what happens.

Thx ATW! I'm sure they're here in Baltimore County, you know they have to be. I'm pretty much diggin' everything, so I just may have one to report before long, but maybe the big coppers will just keep showin' up. :happysmiley:

I know they turn up more regular over there but we don't get so many of those Irish hafpennies. It also looks a little funny, I wonder if its counterfeit??

Found a ball with a shank on it not to long ago 1485183945094-295910795.jpg
Was told maybe it's the ball that rings a bell. The one I've got is pewter I think.

That's one nice site you've been hunting McCDig. The half cent still eludes my coil. How did you have the detector set up for the hunt and which coil were you using?
