I tried a new spot today. I was pleasantly surprised to find an early and productive site. Not bad for a 75 minute hunt.

The total haul:
A nice hair pin, and mostly marked buttons. A great owl themed book clasp was the cherry on top.

I'm glad you enjoy the posts Tommy. This buckle reaches back just about as far as possible in the US. In my area of NJ, it's certainly touches the early side of colonization

Do you know what that item in the lower left of your group pic is? A hair pin? 1700s?

You are getting to be the master of the speed hunts Steve! Another bunch of quality finds-that is a very nice, very old buckle.

Nice work buddy, I was at a new site today and found a copper. I'm still hoping to find out what it might be.

Awesome digs Scrappy, :headbang: That's an old buckle for sure. Looks like you found a great 1700's site to dig at. Love the coppers and the buttons also.

Speed hunts are a way of life for me Glenn. After work I'm lucky to get 45 minutes. This hunt was extended after finding that buckle though...lol.

Mystery coppers that can't be ID'd never get easier buddy. The only thing that helped me ID one of these coppers was the "ET LIB" on the obverse. The good part is the only way to find Colonial silver is to dig a lot of colonial copper. Lol

These coppers look like a cow chewed on them. These were farm field finds (although the fields converted into woods long ago).
