Went out for just a bit yesterday to the local park. Right away found a 1920-S wheat cent. My second oldest wheat, but definitely the best shape for my old ones. Also found this really odd ring! I couldn't figure out what it was, but I think I MIGHT have it cracked. As you can see from the pics, there is NO way this thing was gold! Even though it rang up in the mid 50s. Underneath the tarnish, I could see shine, so I buffed out the majority of the ring so I could test the metal.
According to my acid tests, it's testing positive for a Nickel base metal. Was this used in jewelry much? I'm not very familiar with the nickel metal. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for reading and HH all.

yeah as soon as I saw it, I knew it definitely wasn't gold (due to the tarnish) but I could see underneath the brown tarnish there was a shiny golden color. I did a scratch test at first and it tested pos for 10k or lower. But then I remembered to just test the actual piece and the color showed nickel. That's makes a lot more sense! As does for the mid-50s target ID too! Thanks for replying and for the good info!
