When you text a find to some of your best buddies and they all curse at you, that's when you know you have something really killer.

Well today was that day for me, and I'm so pleased with this find despite a new fan club being started called "FU Steve" (whatever that means) lol.

I've been having some luck at a site I'd all but written off. You see I've been staying away from the street - perhaps for reclusive reasons, or perhaps because I don't want other detectorists to spot me. Either way, lately, I've been chancing it and scoring lots of large cents and early buttons. Today I was hammering away and got a slamming hit on the Deus. The kind that make the Deus overload and sound like it's in stereo. I dig it despite being sure it was junk...

I say a few expletives after figuring out what it was.

After some good advice from a few experts, I clean it with nothing but a toothpick and a chip brush.

Finished off with some renaissance wax and viola!

A few friends with some incredible knowledge have confirmed it's a Ca. 1820 Militia Artillerist Belt Plate.

Plate #4 in Crouch.

It was a true blessing to dig this plate, especially in the condition it's in. Enjoy and good hunts everyone.

Steve

Steve you never cease to amaze fantastic find in a one condition
That's a banner all day , I can't wait to see where the date lies
You said early 18s. I vote banner I've never seen one like it amazing find hh gl

Thanks C-Dawg. We've dug so many heartbreakers together; liberty caps, capped, and early buttons, only to find they're toast. It happens bro. But every once in a while we score big. None better than that 1750's 8-reale you blew us away with. Lol

Cheers bud, and thanks for that banner vote.

Just got home, just put in my banner vote, FU Steve just seems like such a barbaric thing to text, I was really happy for you. I better go get a testosterone shot from the Dr.

They don't come out much better than that! Awesome find Steve. You did a wonderful job with the cleaning and now you have a killer early plate for the display. If I can figure out how to nominate banner from my I phone my vote is in.

Dude that thing is awesome!! You are tearing it up. Great job on the cleaning. Definitely don't want to do much to such a historical find. Those are the hunts we dream about and you probably are the reason many guys will call in today. Congratulations Buddy! Vote on the way.[emoji482]

Scrappy, The "FU" fan club? It's for "Fabulously Unique" of course, as is your find.
