When you text a find to some of your best buddies and they all curse at you, that's when you know you have something really killer.

Well today was that day for me, and I'm so pleased with this find despite a new fan club being started called "FU Steve" (whatever that means) lol.

I've been having some luck at a site I'd all but written off. You see I've been staying away from the street - perhaps for reclusive reasons, or perhaps because I don't want other detectorists to spot me. Either way, lately, I've been chancing it and scoring lots of large cents and early buttons. Today I was hammering away and got a slamming hit on the Deus. The kind that make the Deus overload and sound like it's in stereo. I dig it despite being sure it was junk...

I say a few expletives after figuring out what it was.

After some good advice from a few experts, I clean it with nothing but a toothpick and a chip brush.

Finished off with some renaissance wax and viola!

A few friends with some incredible knowledge have confirmed it's a Ca. 1820 Militia Artillerist Belt Plate.

Plate #4 in Crouch.

It was a true blessing to dig this plate, especially in the condition it's in. Enjoy and good hunts everyone.

Just got home, just put in my banner vote, FU Steve just seems like such a barbaric thing to text, I was really happy for you. I better go get a testosterone shot from the Dr.

Haha, they meant it all in good fun. Now go get that shot! Lol.

The plate was found on a home site, the one I was telling you about with the copper pics. I'd like to think it was a peaceful drop. Perhaps the fella was drinking some lemonade in a hammock when it was lost.

Thanks for the banner vote

Part of the enjoyment I get from my finds is sharing them on Tnet with everyone. This was a good one. Thx

Square artillery plate...and with the DEUS no less (what would your CTX think of you Steve). Incredible dig buddy, one that would be at the center of any serious relic hunters collection. BANNER inbound

The CTX doesn't like this spot, and the Deus has thrived. The iron patches are dense and loaded with big pieces. It's going into the center of my case, and thanks for the banner vote Jon.

The front area of the site along the road is where the goodies have been lately. I'll surely be back there soon.

What road?

Stunning is putting it mildly, I think it is absolutely incredible yet pretty well expected....as you are well versed at getting some good stuff. You might end up taking over the banner board at this rate of killer finds, a huge congrats.

Awesome job that is a rare buckle for sure. My found the buckle with the star over the eagle last week it was on top of the ground along the Mississippi river.

They don't come out much better than that! Awesome find Steve. You did a wonderful job with the cleaning and now you have a killer early plate for the display. If I can figure out how to nominate banner from my I phone my vote is in.

Hey thanks for the kind words. It came out better than I ever imagined and I think I'm going to frame this sucker.

And from my phone I click the "view in web browser" option on the top right menu and vote banner that way. Thanks for the vote

Dude that thing is awesome!! You are tearing it up. Great job on the cleaning. Definitely don't want to do much to such a historical find. Those are the hunts we dream about and you probably are the reason many guys will call in today. Congratulations Buddy! Vote on the way.[emoji482]

HH, RN

Much appreciated Joe. With the advice is a couple relics guys I did the (gentle) tooth-picking, and of course, less is more cleaning these items. It took a few hours but it was worth the time. Even my wife said it was cool.

Cheers
