I found a great new place to hunt in today. It's a 100' foot X 50' foot island out in the middle of the street. It's surrounded by houses that look like they were built in the 1930's. Within the first hour I dug out 2 clad Kennedy half dollars which was kind of weird, they were 20 feet apart.

After about 2 hours I dug something that really surprised me. At 4 inches in depth out pops a 1935-S walking liberty half dollar! Another hour of hunting goes by before I dig a silver dime, it was a 1954-S Roosevelt. About 15 minutes after the silver dime one of the guys that live in one of the houses near the island tells me that I have to stop digging and that I have to leave. He was a big Italian guy with a New York accent, so I did not argue with him. :tongue3: He looked like one of the Sopranos:laughing7:!

I was almost done with the island anyway, I covered it pretty well for 3 hours of hunting digging out 43 coins. Walking liberty half dollars a hard to find. Since starting this madness I've dug 22 now.

Nice hunt - I used to do old islands like that and old tree belts in old neighborhoods when I was a kid
made some good finds too - public property he got no business throwing you off
you should have lied and told him a "Im looking for a little girls ring" or old ladies ring she thinks she lost there
and see if he'd buy it - I rarely argued - if worth goin back - I would wait till time when sun rises really early and hit it
good luck

Good hunt! I wouldn't have left though, public property is just that.

Why does there always have to be that one person that has to say something. Its usually not their land, but they've gotta play cop. Nice finds though, I may have argued to stay there, but then again, easier to hit it at another time, when he is not home.

Good job finding that Walker! You're lucky that New Yorker neighbor didn't hit you over the head with your shovel, like Paulie & the Gardners from the Sopranos. "Hey, dis island is my turf, capiche?"

The reason he does not want you digging around there is because he has buried several bodies in shallow graves and, it might be hard to explain if you found one of them and called the cops, ha ha.

Nice finds.

Nice finds, looks like the island was a good producer for it's size and 3 hours. Bet if you can find a few more, there may be some more silver to find! :icon_thumright:
