1840 Presidential token! I Was able to get out to one of my fields last Sunday. The old homestead that use to be there was in the 1860 Plat book. Found a few nice relics in the Flat Irons. Also pulled an 1899 V Nickel, and an 1840 Martin Van Buren Presidential Token. On the obverse it reads "Independent Treasury July 4th, 1840" with a picture of the Heraldic Eagle. The Reverse reads "Martin VanBuren" with a picture of his bust facing to the right. This token is in commemoration of the Treasury Bill that Martin Van Buren signed on July 4th 1840. I know its hard to read from the photos, but I was able to clean it off enough to get the words that are on it. A nice little piece of U.S. History.

Thanks,I agree. I actually found an award medal shaped like the Liberty Bell, that commemorated the smartest student in the school and it was dated July 4th, 1880. To make matters more interesting, I found it on the morning of July 4th, 2015 !
