Hello haven't posted in a while.. Not much to brag about till today. Found a 1898 ihp. I have wanted one of these for a while now. Its in good shape all but the crud that won't come off. It has good detail must have been drooped when new. 1490498283585-1272628383.jpg

Very cool and nice looking details! Some warm hydrogen peroxide might help out......Of course we also use some heavy duty chemicals to clean our stuff though, so I would wait for someone else to chime in. :laughing7:

The very first IHP I found was the exact same year. Back then I had no idea what I found being new to this hobby back in 2009. We soaked it in olive oil for a few days and then gently rubbed with cotton and it came out real nice at the end.

Congratulations on your nice find!

I will do the olive oil when I get home. I almost didn't dig it. Its disc out just above tab but the sound was to good coming from the vaquero to pass up.

That's a really nice IHP.
Lots of detail hiding under that crud.
A wooden toothpick won't scratch the coin and is helpful in removing dirt
Congrats

Congrats on your first Indian Head Penny. It's always nice finding a coin for the first time. Yours looks to be in good condition. The last one I found was toasted.

Started with a Garrett. I think I've probably tried everything make and model from 1977, all the way to the up to the E-trac and GPX 4800.
Nothing new as for me now, I am pretty much handicapped.

Relic Hunting
