Found today on the site of an old Indian camp. Does the iron piece look like a hand forged horse bridle part?

I'not 'educated ' enough to comment on your Iron piece.
But
Those Pottery shards are Sweet IMO.

I like that theory, I couldn't work out what the internal spikes where for, riveting the pot!
