1831 the entire Hecksherville valley was composed of two villages. At this time the valley was called “Chapmanville” after the owners of the coal mines. In 1843 the Chapmanville interests were taken over by George and William Payne. Subsequently, the valley’s name was changed to “Payne’s Patch”.

Saint Keirans is a Roman Catholic church located in Heckscherville Pennsylvania. It is the sole church in the town and was built by Irish miners in the 1850s under the direction of John Neumann. the first United States Bishop to be made a saint. St. Kieran's is the only church whose construction the Bishop personally oversaw on 3 separate visits to the site. Architecturally designed after the tiny country church at Knock, Ireland (which became famous when the miraculous apparition of Our Lady of Knock appeared there in 1878), St. Kieran's was rumored to be one of Bishop Neumann's favored parishes. The little church was named after a parish in Kilkenny, Ireland from where many of St. Kieran's parishioners originally hailed.

St. Kieran's Church was closed in June, 2008. Like many others, St. Kieran's is a casualty in the widespread restructuring and consolidation of Roman Catholic churches currently underway in America. it was Sold in 2015 for $25,000 to someone From
new York, N.Y. . I guess I'll have to write him in order to see if I can Gain Permission to detect the Yards

Fascinating pictures, Jeff! Love the history too!

Did you notice the slight difference in the directions of the baselines between 38 & 58? :)

You only dug about 40 targets in 90 mins? ;)

Good job!

Good job!

I did notice the change in the baselines, on the aerial, while prepping them
for the post.
but only for about a second. then my mind moved on. :(

thanks for the reminder ! at one point in the grass I had a hit that my pinpointer wouldn't locate,
but my detector said it was there. only thing that popped in my mind was very deep base marker.
perhaps I was right. I gave up because the Ground is Black Coal dirt,
under a Light Brown coating. it's Very hard to hide Digs & the hole
would have had to have been Wide & deep to locate what ever it was.
leaving a very unsightly dig spot worried me.

I started out, the place seemed empty.
I was apparently swinging between all the Targets.
but once they started hitting. wasn't too bad.
took a long time to find any coins, and the small amount of Shotgun brass Surprised me

Very few old homesteads here in Tucson. I like your research and pictures. Just a matter of time before you find silver...

My problem as well. I can be brilliant! For a moment at a time. :dontknow:

You use the Pro-Pointer, have you ever tried the coin trick on the side of it?

Still a nice outing!

I use it all the time. Sometimes to locate something deeper than I dug sometimes I even check to further pinpoint before I dig. It works.
What I do is wear a junk ring on my left thumb and that way I can just slide my glove forward until it works. :)

By the by....can anyone with a Garrett Carrot speak up? Does it pinpoint deeper than the black one? :dontknow:

I need a New Garrett.
Between The rubber on/off not staying in Place & Making me push it several times
to turn it on. on occasion.
it seems to be getting weaker.
I used to hear it over my headphones. now
I can barley hear it or feel the vibration.
I find myself removing My headphones lately :(

Bad thing is The Price of Them.
and sending it in is a scary thought this time of year Especially :tongue3:

Yes I have the Xpointer Diver. But with the Explorer, I either need to :

Turn the Xpointer on.
Run Noise Cancel on the Explorer.
Find the Object
Turn the Xpointer off.
Run Noise Cancel on the Explorer ,

or turn the explorer off , use the pinpointer. turn the pinpointer off
turn the explorer back on, run noise cancel

with the Garrett, I just use it & it does not effect the Explorer.

Getting Lazier in my old age :laughing7:

& Time is $$$ Even though I'm not finding much these days :tongue3:

Kind of funny. I actually taped over the speaker port to make mine quieter and more waterproof.

It truly is a blessing! Having a pinpointer. I did it old school many, many years ago. It does help efficiency.
Your motor on the vibration is probably getting worn out. After all those digs you do! ;)

I am about to spring for a new one. Hate thinking about the old one stopping and not having one.

Yea I have Foam Rubber & Tape over mine also.
But I could still Hear it. And as You said the motor on the vibration,
is Probably also weakening.

been spending too much lately on toys and bills, just bought an inkjet printer scanner. and enough Ram to Max out my Computer. and my auto inspection is creeping up on me (June)
now I think it will pass with Nothing but the sticker needed. but thinking is easy.
realizing is another thing. especially if I pull into the station with only enough for a sticker
and labor :unhappysmiley: I'm so used to spending $800 Plus on Inspections on my SUV's I'm still Smarting Mentally :BangHead:

at this point still mulling over, used off ebay or save up for a Newbie Carrot

by the way, Here is something else that Caught my Eye.
Yet I blew it Off. 1958 Aerial
Compare with My shaky Markings.
No I have never concentrated on that area. Grass is always
a bit Tall there. Guess it's worth a try next time.
