Well the new permission is still giving. Really happy with this one. My best preserved pewter Revolutionary War button found in a field and not just of any regiment but the 29th. Found it less than 100 feet from my previous Rev War find, the 67th regiment of foot button from the same period.

Close to Montreal and Burgoyne's route, I think it confirms the fact that some of the 67th regiment soldiers were marching with Burgoyne's troops.

Also found a few pieces of musket (a part of a ramrod and of a buttstock) and a few dropped musketballs.

A really cool hunt!

Thanks for the comments!

Fantastic button! It would appear that you are on an encampment. I imagine the back just has a boss where the shank was?

Yes, you're right, no shank. Never found a pre 1800 pewter with the shank still attached. Seems to be pretty rare.
I'm hoping it's an encampment. But very little finds otherwise.

Thank you for the comment.

What a great looking pewter button, the soils were kind. I wish my buttons would be even close to the condition of yours. Congratulations
