Another fire pit find

Check this out. I found this powder flask flatten in the fire pit I have been excavating. As you can see from the before picture, it was flatten with two distinctive halves IMG_1239.JPG IMG_1243.JPG . It looks like copper I have just used a toothpick to clean. Any advice on further cleaning. As to age, were flasks used during civil war. This looks to pre date the war
