I haven't posted here in awhile but I had to share this find. I finally found my first 1700's US silver coin and it's all I could have ever hoped for and more. It's a 1796 Draped Bust Dime JR-6 variety with visible die crack through the date. I found it yesterday, about 4-5" down at the edge of a corn field. As soon as I saw it I knew I had something special.

Agreed. Any silver American coin from the 1700s should go straight up top. You've got to be thrilled with that beauty, congrats.

Congrats on a rare Draped Bust Dime find and one that is Banner worthy in anyone's book! If you ever plan to sell it, it would be a good idea to have it conserved, certified and graded as it is a fairly valuable coin. While most Graders would only grade it around an AG-03, with a good conservation and due to the rarity of the coin and it being a JR-6 Variety, one could hope for a G-04+ grade. Good luck and my Banner vote is going in!

Congrats to you on the find of a lifetime. Beautiful and historic!

Now, what's with all this awesome stuff coming out of the ground lately (under everyone else's coil, that is!)? :laughing7:

Fantastic coin! Love the early American silver and that is as early as dimes get  I can see it better than I could on Facebook, and while it has some damage, the details are legible. I think it's better than AG, since for AG you only need enough details to identify. Oh yes, I am voting BANNER.
