Got me an awesome permission today, I knew I would....:laughing7:
My plan was to troll a neighbor of another permission, cuz I learned he was in this old house since 1952.... as soon as I saw him, I showed him the lighter I found.
I already knew it was a handout from a funeral home here in town from the 60's, but I wanted him to see it, jog his old memory, and get him talking about old Ft. Myers....
Worked like a charm.:tongue3:
Dude has an acre, house built in 1925....I've only scratched the surface.

The first target was actually an eyeball find....the Buffalo was right on the surface!

He pointed out where the old clothesline was, and that's where I hunted, low and slow for about an hour.....

The agreement we have is that it's an open permission, anytime I want, provided I show him all my finds.

Awesome.

Hanks for looking!:hello:

Back in the mid 1960's I lived in Fort Myers on Third Street. Most of the homes there were turn of the century.
As a 10 year old armed with a cheap metal detector I detected my yard and the empty house next door. Found the usual small silvers and wheats to add to my collection. The best find was a Mason jar with a dozen or so coins. Mostly copper large cents but with a Seated half also. All were counter stamped with the letters C.A.V.
I kept one that I used as a pocket piece that I only recently lost after carrying it for over 45 years. A 1853 large cent.

I've never considered finding a LC here in Ft. Myers.....

What do you carry the pocket piece for? Conversation starter?

Nice bunch of tokens! I can't find a listing to match what I can see on the one you have turned rightside up - can you post them on tokencatalog? Thanks!

Yea John.... hold on, I will.
I haven't found any images of Baron Collier Co. Ft. Myers tokens....
The center reads "Lumber and Ties"

I suppose maybe they were a distributor for railroad construction, along with the housing boom in the 1920's.....

Looks like someone had an awesome day. Congrats on pulling all those keepers Dave. Bet your heart was racing after that walker rang in. I'd have to guess that that large token rang in as a half dollar.

The tokens were a bouncy 79-81 in a spill. Aluminum gets pretty rotted out after a while. The Walker was a solid 92. I was gonna grab the phone and record it... but I couldn't wait. Third one this year!:headbang:

You played it perfect! Great permission. I do a lot of neighborhood trolling myself since I don't like knocking on doors.. but if I see you outside you're all mine. I have houses I stark all over the place. Lol
