Yesterday I packed up the DEUS and headed to the park that gave up a nice Skeleton Key the day before.
I picked a hill and started to grid it off. My very first target was an Indian Head Penny.
I didn't notice until I got home that it was a fatty. (1860)
I dug what I thought was a second IHP about an hour later. I was really surprised, (Cleaning it at home), to discover that it was actually a Flying Eagle Cent. (My Very FIRST)
During the hunt I focused on high numbers, (98), and sweet sounds, I dug out a bunch of deep targets with both of the old copper cents coming from a depth of about 8 inches, and registering 98 on the VDI. I found that unusual because the Fatty has a copper nickel composition.
Some other interesting finds were a 1941 Silver Washington Quarter, a copper bracelet, and an unusual Coin Meter Token. Definitely not for a New York City Parking Meter.

Congrats on the finds! Nice to see the FEC and the 1860 IHP, don't see them as often. Looks like was a good hunt and you might need to hit that place again, might just hold a few more surprises yet. Good luck!

I had that same thing happen to me at that big old city park we all dig at.I dug what I thought was an IH and weeks later when I finally cleaned it,I discovered I had my first Flying Eagle.

Thank you Argentium,,
The FE, and Fatty, were heavily crusted but I was able to make out a silhouette of the wreaths on the reverse of the coins. When I was cleaning the FE at home, I couldn't believe I was seeing the outline of an Eagle. This is the 3rd bucket lister this year and two came from this park. It always feels good to dig a FIRST.

Great score mate. Congrats on the bucket list FE. I need one too. Nice fatty as well. Been going after Indians since 2008 and only one fatty. Hard to come by coins on one hunt rocks. Well done.

The coin meter one is a generic carwash token
John in the Great 208

Thanks John,, I don't own a car and it's a little too slippery to drive my motorcycle through one, so I have never seen a token like that before. lol
