I got a silver dime one time. Those things are like slot machines where no one claims the jackpot. LOL

We had over a million people pass through town today for the eclipse, so I thought it might be a good day to try my luck with Coinstar.

This was my best day in a while. Two stops, $1.58 in change, a Canadian toonie (two-dollar coin), and a silver dime.

Five of eight silver dimes so far are 1964's, but this is my first P.

I said in an earlier post that I didn't see a lot of Canadian coins, but almost all of them are from Coinstar.

Excuse my ignorance... I've never heard of this before. How does one go about finding coins on a coin star machine?

Check the reject tray in front. People also leave coins right on the shelf, on the metal dumper, or on top of the machine. Folks here also look under and around the machine, and some dedicated hunters have even been able to access the dirt cup on the inside.

Great find! Not too much here lately except regular change now and then although someone did leave three 2 Euro coins that I grabbed. I always like finding foreign coins but would rather have silver of course.

S.S.D.D.--same score, different dates.

I think someone raided a collection jar this week. The dime is a 1961-P, today's toonie is a 2015.

I just found $7.54 in change, plus one Euro cent, the most I've gotten from Coinstar at one time. After making sure there was nothing worth keeping (not even any coppers), I tried to "give something back" by running it through the machine, but only 79 cents' worth (after the fees) was accepted. The rest kept dropping back into the reject bin.

My final haul contained no pennies or dimes. (The four cents came from the counter, or the vicinity of the machine.) My guess is that the nickel and quarter receptacles were full, but it was still taking pennies and dimes. For those of you familiar with the machine's inner workings, is this possible?

Silver quarter No. 2, a 1957-D. These things are just about impossible to find in circulation.
