Very few and far between for me, only 4 in seven years hunting.
Two were smooth as silk and hard to ID, but I finally did, 13 days ago I found a scarred up one but it got me into the 1800's and today this one.
Found both of the latest ones since I put the new Sharpshooter coil on the F70 but probably just a coincidence.

This was on edge I think and sitting just under the grass on top of some thick red clay and rocks...not much can sink in conditions like this.
I believe it was sitting right there shallow for over 100 years or so, it was the on edge thing that probably prevented all hunters that scoured this park from finding it over the years....this was an unusual short beep when I ran over it
Still, I noticed and dug it so I am thrilled.
Should have seen the look on my face when pulled it out and cleaned it off enough to see it was a V.
Kinda shocked a coin like this was so shallow.

Pitted and dirty and not worth much but in the best shape on any one I have found so I am scrubbing this thing clean no matter how long it takes.
I want at least one decent looking clean one in my collection.

The 'V' is still on my bucket list. Don't think I'll ever find one. Of course that's what I said about the 10 cent Barber--then I found one in a city park. Congrats on your fourth V.

Old Nickels are the poor man's silver. I love them as well and it states that the operator ain't no cherry picking silver hoarder.:censored:

I love old nickels. They do tend to be "ugly" coming out of the dirt after a hundred years but, still cool as heck. I need me an ugly Shield Nickel to get that notched off my bucket list. Nice find.
