Math was never my best subject, but if someone shoots a half cent, and splits it in half, doesn't that make it a quarter cent?

I pulled a date off of it, 1832, and it was actually my first half cent. Is there a hotline that I can call? No one should do this to a coin! ;-)

What story it tells. Congrats on the half cent.

P.S. I've learned a lot on this site and I swear I thought that I was hearing of a actual Quarter Cent for the first time. I'm glad I didn't just read your title because I was ready to look it up on eBay to possibly buy it. Lol

I think that's a pretty cool coin, the bullet hole gives it character!

There should be a law against finding half a half cent. Nice find though!

Nice find! You never know, maybe that coin saved someone's life. Someone may have been shot at.

Great find! I wonder what the story is behind it? I have yet to break into the 1800s.
Last year I found a silver quarter that may have saved someones life.

The minute you said "well, I found my first half-cent" when you brought it over I knew something was up...I think it's a great find, you'll always remember it! You're killing me by the way with the 1830 coins lately Mike, soon it'll be an 1834 key largie you'll be digging out.

That's a very cool find. Sort of a shame, but also very cool.

Sometimes when I find something that is "damaged" I feel bad about it at first, but after a little time, I begin to "appreciate" the one of a kind nature of the find.

I like your quarter cent sir. Well done.

Maybe half cents were discontinued and they ran out of shooting targets. Nice job getting the date off

More than likely it was used as target practice. I used to Shoot dimes with my .22 when i was younger. Provides a fun challenge with cool buzzing sounds when you hit them.

Weapons weren't nearly as accurate then as they are now, which makes it pretty impressive that someone was able to hit it if it was done around when the coin was made. Found a bunch of wheaties that were shot but never a half cent. Really cool find. Congrats!

Hitting a half cent with a black powdered rifle is pretty cool. Just wondering how far the coin sat when they shot it. Congrats on the half cent it's a one of a kind find, as another one would be different.
