Went close to the city where I picked up my air compressor and to a lake there on a campground. Went there before but the shallows were hit hard. Only three coins.

Decided to go back today and try the drop off. Not a lot but it did give up the gold. Two 14K rings. I know, I probably should have let them grow up but they are the first ones of the year so I took them! 2.15 grams and 1.37 grams of 14K each. I really thought the first one was 10K as I have seen many thin 10K rings of that style. They work for me.

Actually I was in the water less than 10 minutes to find the first one which was the first target. It is 2.15 grams of 14K, the other is 1.37 grams.

Toe ring is junk and the rest clad. This state park isn't that old.

I couldn't go deeper than about 8', sinus was killing me. I will go back this summer and hit more of the drop off deeper. Hopefully I can scare up some larger ones.

Record is 7 for me and I really can't tell you how many 6 gold ring days I have had. I seem to find lots of drop offs where waders can't get to.

Sad to say that the only way for me to hit THOSE places are if the lakes were to all of a sudden drain. Great finds. You fella's can go to where many of us "Turf monsters" can not.

I'm with JC... it took me 4 years to find 2 gold rings! Two in one hunt would be so cool.

Congrats SD. I look forward to seeing your adventures over the summer months!

Good luck to you sir.

I seem to find lots of drop offs where waders can't get to.

Always where my wife starts her hunts on fresh water, especially if it is a new site. This past Mothers Days we all went out for the weekend to hunt a place we have not touched in a couple years. It being Mothers Day weekend she ended up with the bottle and the kids and I worked the shore and shallows.

I think if more people knew how much better the hunting is underwater then more would be into it.

What is your record in grams for Silver and Gold?

Congratulations on the duo. Love your posts. Did you manage to get them to issue permits for your honey hole over the winter?

I don't keep a record in grams. My highest gold finding summer was a bit over 27 thousand dollars

No permit needed. I am legal to dive there, AS PER LAW. Waiting to see if anyone will challenge me again. I have the laws and a copy of my drivers license laminated. I am good to go.

we can't detect state parks except at designated places at designated times of the year and with permit only. most of the lakes around me are Corp of Engineers lakes that do not allow detecting at all. makes it tougher to detect water here. have know of someone having their stuff confiscated. congrats on the gold, pretty awesome and hope your sinus problem clears up, mind kill me most of the year anymore. this getting older ain't for wimps that's for sure
