So I have the gold fever pretty badly and have been getting out any chance I get. Today I was prospecting a wash that the old timers hit pretty hard. Found a few pieces of amalgamated gold, probably lost from the end of a sluice back in the day and then this baby just about jumped out of the pan at me!

Very nice Montana sapphire. Great color and great size on the stone.

Thanks smokey! I've found a lot of little clear ones and even smaller pink ones, but this one caught me off guard. I've never heard of sapphires in this area either but like gold, sapphires are where you find them lol. I think I'll go back and really classify the material to catch any other good sized ones. I suppose the gold I find will be an added bonus.

My iPhone doesn't like to focus up close so I used a loupe. I'm going out tomorrow to see if I can find some more!

Nice, I probably would not have recognised it as treasure.
