Found East of Lovelock NV, early 20th century..? goes to show you should dig overload signals sometimes. Found this a while back, don't always post things I find immediately. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1497631096.175792.jpg

Awesome find. Whats an overload signal?

An overload usually happens when a large piece of metal be ferrous or nonferrous is under your coil, especially if the target is shallow. This lock was only 4 or so inches down. I dig more targets than most, especially in a site that is old, that is why it pays to know or have an idea on the sites history. I dug the lock on an old siding very near the original transcontinental RR. The machine I was using at the time displays "OL" on the screen and makes a distinctive sound. It was an Xterra 70 with an 6" DD 18.75 KHz coil. This coil is good for heavy trash areas and is a silver dime killer in the nail beds.

I like hunting old abandoned railway sites. Nice lock, I would be ecstatic!
