I've been having a productive few weeks....but I'm putting in the hours so I'm glad it's paying off.

I think I'd faint if I found a piece of Catholic history. Congratulations.

Cool ring.
I have an area nearby once heavily populated by Jesuits and Jesuit students. I've pounded the whole area for a few years. I've found lots and lots of medals of all kinds and other artifacts but so far no rings. I'm hoping one will appear but the targets are really few and far between at this point.
It's a shame they didn't have any silver or gold ones. I've never seen a silver or gold one dug.

I've also noticed that the Jesuits didn't drop many coins (except for a few what pennies) because back in the day they didn't have any to lose. Those guys were basically broke most of the time.

They must have taken a vow of poverty because I've haven't found a coin yet in the areas where the rings were found.

I believe I have 9 now...I found 5 one summer..two double headers and a single. Just lucky with them, I think it's a sign.

The ring is way cool. Like the flat button too. No idea what that crusty iron thingy is? Does look like a cross in a circle. Interesting finds.

I think you're right. I've known quite a few Jesuits my entire life and know for a fact that many of them do take that vow.
I'm actually named after two Jesuits. I come from an old Catholic family.

But of all my finds I have found only two silver coins that could have possibly been lost by the Jesuits; both dimes; not even a lousy quarter.
But I have quite a few really nice old Sterling medals and a few copper ones.

But your ring is still awesome. I found an old "junker" Sky King ring last year that's bent and rusty as hell.
It's still one of my all time favorite finds.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or the collector)...

That ring is really cool. I guess that since you have several of them, it's not that big of a deal. But I have not seen but a few, so I think that it is exceptionally nice.

Congrats on the find sir!
