Went digging in the yard today. Only found two memorial cents. The earring I found in the parking lot of the gas station next door. I'm not complaining about the junk. The more I get cleared out, the more good finds will turn up.

Indeed.
And if you're WILLING to dig lots and lots of trash, sooner or later you WILL dig some gold.

It's a numbers game.

Indeed we do and in the end with a little persistence it pays off.
It's funny. When you dig up some gold you instantly forget those hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pull tabs you dug looking for it...

usually about the time that you think that you know exactly what piece of trash you are about to dig, because you have already dug a bunch of them, you get proven totally wrong in a good way. That crappy signal can be the find of the day, that can be silver, the pull tab gold. it will pay off but as said, it can be a numbers game

Twenty some years ago when I first started MD'ing I would have given up on the yard where I live. So while the house is 117 years old, it's been in a poor neighborhood for probably 50+ years . Most of the people in the other apartments are addicts or on probation or worse. Because I understand the history, I know the amount of junk I have to clear out.

So far out of two-hundred some targets dug, IU've scored a 41 wheat (yesterday ), two Canadian coins, a clad dime and a modern nickel. Plus approximately 55 cents. Lol, this yard is a penny magnet. I fully expect to find Indian head cents when I get the trash out.

And yes, I have found gold, but it's been about five years n

You got it Mz.
Layers. Blocking layers.
Thanks for the reminder to be patient and methodical.

My couple better coins were under/with iron , and one had a bonus wire in there too.
Without digging the junk ... I'd only find junk.

Well, at least you are still going for it and there seems to have been something to find with the wheaties and the gold in the past. What you found looks like you have been at my apartment as that seems to be all that i find right here but as you said, have to clean the junk out and so do I. Good Luck the rest are waiting to be uncovered!

Might as well keep digging anyway. The ground is always changing and sometimes things magically appear after time, weather, etc.
I've found nice targets in spots I've hit a hundred times over a couple of years.

I tried updating with separate pictures, but the photo links kept appearing in the middle of the text or other photo links. So just one photo with descriptions for each line.
1498012613860-2054452799.jpg

The first line had an additional nail. Unfortunately I threw them away before I realized I'd have so much problems with multiple photographs. Anyway these were all in a 3" hole.

I cut my finger on this staple. Fortunately I had a tetanus shot 11 months ago.

Line three, four other pieces of junk. That bent nail took over 10 minutes to find. It had a huge halo. It seemed like every time I checked the hole it was in a different spot. Fortunately I knew it was in the center, and finally it came up.
