I have just begun Metal Detecting with my new Ace 400. Still learning tones and depths etc. Have dug a lot of trash but so far all is exciting and a learning opportunity for me. Up until yesterday my best finds were some Luger 9mm bullet casings on my sisters property in southern MN. I was invited to go for a ride north to Parkers Prairie MN and took the Ace 400 with me hoping to get permission to hunt somewhere new. A local Excursion bus operator allowed me to detect his property. Found lots of iron. And the fist real relic. From my research I think it is a 1950's to 1970's vintage. Not real old and not real good shape but pretty exciting for me to pull something interesting out.

Blessings to all

Don't forget to check for the cache in a jar below the lid.
Idk why but I save all of those porcelain discs that I find unbroken, I think I have about 35 or so out in my garage now, but have yet to find a jar full of gold or silver below, fingers crossed.
You are digging the right signals, just keep at it.

Oh yes !
I thought many of those were Civil War Plates , not just by the way they sound but by seeing the round edge in the hole. :BangHead:

That said I keep the ones that are in Perfect shape & still have some like yours but in worse shape that I dug years ago.

Just yesterday I found a Unbroken porcelain piece while eyeballing a Construction Site .

There must be a reason we keep all these , heck I recycle the broken ones.

I think for the most part they are made of Zinc. :icon_scratch:

GL in the Future & I may see you if yr hunting the Atlanta GA area.

Cool find! I have found a lot of them in trash pits dating from the 1870's-1910's. I am sure you will find way more in the future! Congratulations on your first relic!

Congratulations on your first jar lid.
You'll be even more excited when you find your first silver coin. SWING AWAY.
