Well got out to play today and had fun as usual. Still haven't hit a great spot but I did find things to keep me content.

Anybody have a clue as to what that fake branch thing is with a brass piece? Looks like it is broken but I couldn't find anything else that goes with it.

Ring is 585 (14k) Date on the inside is Jan 18 1963. Last year the beach was used. War nickel was my ONLY coin. Very strange. Sterling bracelet with a brass chain. Eight gauge shotgun base. Largest I have found out there. In another lake I found a 4 gauge base to a punt gun. Other ring is brass. Still a good day in the river.

Nice finds! The "branch" looks to me like a carnival cane handle?

Looks like the rest was wood and so it is very feasible. Now I just have to google it and verify it. Why would they give canes at a carnival?

Hate to admit it but, I remember when they gave away cheap canes as prizes at carnivals. (I guess you can tell I'm OLD!):laughing7: As you state, I'm guessing the wood rotted away..........

At our county fair, they still have the "cane toss" buy a handful of plastic rings for a handful of cash and try to "ring" one of the canes that are hanging upside down...u ring it u win it...Ddf

Agreed - cane handle - nice pics/finds as always

One of those hollow canes one puts booze into to sneak into dry/boring events? Ha!

You can still swing a detector like a young man for many hours in the fields across the pond Dale.

Nice going on the finds SD. Slim in quantity high on quality.

Some more neat finds Scuba! Cane Handle is unusual and guess the other coins are just waiting for a return trip. Congrats on the finds!
