Bring on the Rain! Gold and silver rings, musket balls and a 1700's tombac button!

Heavy rain today resulted in quite a few good finds this evening! Rained all day, but cleared up around 4 PM. Went back to the field where I found an 1853 half dime. No old coins, but the jewelry and relics were popping!

The best find of the day was a decent size gold ring. I hadn't found gold this year, so I finally broke that streak! Marked 10k and has a heart stamped inside the band with the word "gig" in the heart (I think). Weighs 1.4 grams, so that's $22.72 in scrap value. Not bad!

Next best find was a Sterling silver claddagh ring. Band is broken, but it has a nice jade stone. Also dug a junk box pendant and an ornate junk ring. Not worth anything, but still fun to find.

Finally, I dug two musket balls and a 1700's tombac button. This field sure has a wide range of stuff to find!

Congrats on the finds! That little, junk box pendant that you found is actually a prayer box pendant. You're supposed to write a prayer down on a very small piece of paper then fold it up and put it in the box. Too bad that Irish Claddagh ring's band was broken. Nice 10k heart ring!

Thanks for that info! I thought it should have something inside, but couldn't imagine what you would put in it. It would have been really cool to find a prayer inside the box, but it was empty...

Great hunt! I found a prayer box very similar to yours awhile back and it's a cool find. Mine was also empty.....so I filled it and closed it back up.
