Well... maybe after contact (I have an article somewhere around here about pottery/natives/pilgrims) but what makes you say that? The smooth edge and lines on the bottom?

Mostly the type & consistency of the clay. The lines I think show it was wire cut off the wheel.(but not sure on that point)

Believe me, if Cru' says it, it is probably true!
Thanks but pottery is not my strong point. I know enough about UK found bits to get by.

Well what are you thinking? I've washed it off a bit more and the clay looks very light in color - like light gray almost, and I can see a little orange glaze decoration. Could be a modern, made in mexico... Im keeping it though with my other jar of question mark shards.
