Went out to the raft off last night. Not another detectorist in sight. Worked for me. Played until 2am. For those that have never heard of a raft off, here is last years picture. Over 5,000 boats and people everywhere. This is a drinking adult party on the lake.

Found the silver Claddagh ring first and some change. Finally hit a gold band. YEA!! Got back to the marina at 2am and slept. Decided to hit another spot today. Boy am I glad I did. I guess the picture will tell everything. A bit of clad and a few more sunglasses and BAM.

When I saw that chain hanging from the scoop I was floored. And yes I waded in this spot. A good day out in the water. 67.46 grams of 14K will work for me any day!

Na, I just go where they lose things around here. Anybody could have got their coil over this. BTW, last one was a bracelet. Thank you for the kind words.

I'd call that a modern day gold mine! Mix booze with water and the gold falls off! Congrats!

My credit is so bad, stores refuse my cash. Actually you can be next after my 6 daughters. Today totally blew me away. 1629.00 in scrap gold has to be my record. I knew it was real out there, just didn't know how much I had.

Quick question. Is that $1629 in scrap just for that necklace and ring, the 67.46 grams? I was just curious. If so that's a lot better return than I've been able to get by far! I convert everything to pennyweight so when I was figuring it earlier when I read the post the first time, I may have made a mistake. Anyway, that's a lot of good gold. I would struggle with wanting to keep the necklace and wear it a while. I wish there was a place around here where people congregated like that. The closest place I can think of is Crab Island in Destin but I don't ever read about the guys detecting out there and have often wondered if the locals hunt it. Congrats on some super finds

Wow, that is a nice haul and if a guy cannot land a fish on that raft of drunken people, then something is seriously wrong!

I get 98% of the value sending my gold to ARA. You put the values in and the karat and this site tells you what you have:

Ultrafast Live Scrap Gold Calculator [USD] from Dendritics

I put -2% for my take and I get 1597.56. So I lose a little more than 30.00. Big deal. All found anyway, free cash.

Thanks Scubadetector. I remember you posted some information on this a while back. I should have paid better attention. I've been taking mine, what little I do find, to a local place owned by a friend of mine. But I've learned that when it comes to this business and selling gold even friends have to make money too. And business is business, I don't blame him and he would understand if I send my gold in to make more money, no hard feelings. He has a business with overhead costs. So, I think I will check in to this a little more. Thanks again.

I remember going to that one year. My friend had a twin engine Scarab with blown 502's in it. I think I found gold that night too. One crazy day on the water
