It looks like an old wooden foundation??? I can tell the area is swamp but is dry at the moment ANY THOUGHTS!!???? The dimensions are about 10x10 with 4 ft berm around it .

Wow...I walk the woods a lot and have never seen a wood line hole...Interesting. I will be curious to read others' take on this.

Old wooden oil tank? There are alot of them here in NW Pa.. Sometimes the tanks are gone, and all thats left is the leveled off area where it sat.

....Have you seen any fittings for liquid in or out ? The one pic supplied might have a conical tin lid . The bindings are certainly old.
What would oil......Oh, Pennsylvania ! I suppose .... have you seen oil wells in these areas ?
