Hi folks,

I seldom post my finds here for no other reason than most of it is Canadian coins, and I figure that if most of you being American have no chance in finding them, then there would be little interest. No disrespect meant, but I know what it's like when I'm on the UK forums and I see their coins.

For some reason though we have a greater chance of finding American coins up here, so I'm always interested in seeing your finds.

Anyway........

Todays find (aside from the small 1911 - 1912 Canadian dime in the top left of the picture), is a very cool and very small hand gun.

Thanks to Bill from Lachine (or uncle Bill to some of you.....LOL.....) for helping me identify it.

I will get it cleaned up as good as I can over the next little while and post it again.

I have found lots of toys guns or parts of toy guns, but this is the first real gun I've ever found!

Totally cool by me! :occasion18:

Very cool find, something that I have never dug in my life is a pistol. Congrats on the recovery.

Post up more often it might surprise you how the membership views the Canadian finds.

Congrats on that gun find, and just so you know I personally like to see Canadian coins. You guys have some great looking designs on your older silvers and coppers.

Geez, great find! Canadian silver as well!

Now, I wonder if that is a good case for electrolysis - considering it may contain bullets.....

Cool find! I like ADS, wonder about cleaning and if loaded how to do it safely and if the gun is still intact enough to hold up. beinteresting to see it but hate to destroy the find trying to clean it or have an accident with old ammo. And the Cnandian Coins are neat too, silver is always good! Congrats!

Nice finds. I also love to see the old Canadian large cents and silvers. Would love to find some here. Also be careful, the RCMP might be knocking on your door for the pistol! LOL

Okay so apparently I was wrong about the Canadian coins!?! :laughing7:

Thanks everybody for your replies, I'm kind of surprised too be honest.

I was thinking about the electrolysis and the safety of that as well DSA, I think I will soak it in apple cider vinegar (as mentioned by Thumper) for a few days, and then put it into a tumbler to see what comes of it.

I know I'm going to lose parts of it through the normal process of chipping the rust away, but it would be cool to see more detail.

Actually I'd love to be able to see a bullet in there.......and some detail on the handle.

I will update this thread in a few days.
