We got out for about 4 hrs and had a great day at our hidden spot ,when we arrived there was a big old red tail hawk sitting on a rock looking at us, I asked but he wouldn't stick around for a pic 8-) then we found 4 more foundation holes that we didn't know about, can not wait to explore them !! Before I even turned on the detector I spotted the butt of the pistol sticking out of the dirt looking at me with a big smile :laughing7: I did a little looking online and think it might be a Smith and Wesson model 2 army from the 1880s ??? any help would be much appreciated . The brother found the token and even though he found it , I danced around with him good thing this spot is remote ! Then I found a pretty 1909 barber dime. All in all a great day and a great hunt !

I love the token congratulations to your brother!!!! I can't wait to see what else you 2 find!!! I had my brother on a few digs with me but he never got bit by the detector bug! I would probably have less of a collection. Glad you were able to get around the tall grass.

Wow .. Great hunt! All kinds of nice goodies. I am not sur, but judging by the shape of the access plate hole, I think your revolver may have been an F. W. Hood spur trigger pocket pistol, circa 1874.

It looks very much like my Smith & Wesson Model 1. These were built from 1857 to 1881 if my memory serves me. Great find!!!

Mine is a second issue and was made from 1860 to 1868. I think there were at least 3 variances of this weapon. (As in 1st through 3rd Issue)

Check on the right hand side where the grip would be. The other spots there were SN's are not there. IE the barrel and the cylinder.

Mlutz, I think you misunderstood me a little , It has a serial # on the butt and just an AO under the right grip.
