Hit low tide the other morning at sun rise - it was calmer than normal and a negative tide and was able to get to a deep spot I've rarely been able to get out to
and time out there is limited when tide turns - was way out and was finding a few thin coins and sinkers and got a blast - I thought
it was going to be a large sinker but was surprised when I looked in my scoop and saw this ...I got someone working on finding the owner
or owners family and will return if they want it - they may be ones that put it out there to honor him :dontknow:
will let everyone know what happens/ what we find out

There's got to be an interesting story behind how that was lost. Cool find for sure.

Very cool, Casper. Hope the family is not who put it in the ocean/not mad at you for bringing it up.
I've always thought finding a police or "sheriff" badge would be the bomb. Never would I have thought that finding it could bring up bad feelings.
Good luck with the return and hope all is positive.

Finding the Officer that the badge was assigned to should be easy. Simply contact the department and they will have a record of the officer assigned that badge number. Badges are considered a sensitive item and if they are lost or stolen, they are entered into the NCIC. (National Criminal Information Center)
