Went back to the spot in the woods where I pulled a toasted KG the other day. It's full of iron, but I went really slow and dug 1/2 of a colonial shoe buckle! I'm bummed that it's only half, but it has a nice design on it and even has a "WH" makers mark on the back. Tried to research those initials, but no luck. It would be amazing if I could find out who produced this buckle and maybe pinpoint a date on it.

Also found my very first V nickel! Definitely a bucket list find for me. Only took 4 1/2 years to dig one! It's from 1905 and in better shape than most of the buffs I find. It was only 3 inches down, but right next to a rotted log. Probably why I missed it the last 50 times I was at this spot! LOL!

Finally, I found a mystery relic. I'm guessing oxen or horse tack related, but you tell me. It's brass and has a knob on the top. Guesses are appreciated on this one!

Here's some pics:

Nice finds. Mystery relic looks like a blunt spur if it's broke on the one side. Never hear of such a thing, but that's what I immediately thought of.

Congrats on your first V Nickel and getting it REMOVED from the bucket list.:headbang: Half a cool old buckle is better than zero old buckle. I never would have figured that one out without TNet. Just a junk find, but it's a sign that there may have been a home site at this spot. No cellar holes around, but maybe a cabin was there in the 1800's. I guess I'll be hitting this spot another 50 times until I'm sure there's nothing left! Gotta be at least one 1700's silver coin in there somewhere...

Don't see many marked shoe buckle frames. One of my favorite relics. Great find my friend
