Spent a couple hours with my son/digging buddy in the Cold Harbor trenches in an area that the property owner said they'd hunted out and whenever he goes out there he never finds anything. If I've learned nothing else, it's to go slowly in areas where relics should be and LISTEN to your machine. Overall a pretty good day for relic hunting in 2017. Indian head was in the trench along with two bullets, can't read a date but I'm pretty sure it would be 186? something. Big piece of canister, two eagle cuff buttons and a gun tool rounded out the morning. Thanks for looking and happy hunting to everybody!

Based on the reverse, your Indian Head Cent is an 1859! It was probably dropped by a soldier during the civil war. Congrats on the beautiful coin and amazing civil war relics!

Thank you! I love coins but wasn't aware you could tell from the reverse side!
