We left Florida ahead of Hurricane Irma and visited my son in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Spent some time metal detecting his yard. Of course there were some bottle caps and other trash (not all pictured), but also some neat things. The large triangle shaped item on the left looks to be the nameplate off an old car. Still have to clean it up. To the right of the second row of bottle caps is a small silver thimble. The spoon and the top from an old salt shaker were both found under a tree in the front yard. Coin top left is a 1928 Standing Liberty quarter and next to it is a 1929 Mercury dime. Also several pennies, including a 1942 wheat penny. But the amazing finds were the two large coins in the second row. One is an 1826 and the other is an 1843 large cents. They were found in the same hole, about 5 inches down. Also found And other coins, including 1951 and 1954 silver quarters, 1934 in 1937 Mercury dimes, and an 1889 nickel. There were a lot more deep signals, but the ground is very rocky and hard to dig. I'm sure there are other goodies waiting there.

Thank you. My first silver coins. I was amazed at how many we found. And how much junk we dug up in the process! :)

Ditto...great coins!! The dirt certainly didn't do much harm to them, especially the coppers, they're in excellent condition...love the 1826! Congrats on a great day, and i hope you got back to a safe, secure and dry home. Ddf

Very nice variety of coins you got there.

You should crow about the SLQ, they are hard to find.

Best of luck to you!

We were fortunate. No damage to our home, but the place next door lost a carport and part of their roof.

Awesome coins, congratulations! Sub 8-)

"One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don't know.
Then we tried to remove the tusks. The tusks. That's not so easy to say. Tusks.
You try it some time. As I say, we tried to remove the tusks. But they were embedded so firmly we couldn't budge them.
Of course, in Alabama the Tuscaloosa, but that is entirely ir-elephant to what I was talking about."
