Yesterday I decided to head back to a woods spot I hunted once before.
I’ve found a couple of musket balls and square nails the last time I went there so I knew this site had potential.

When I dug this cross it was covered in dirt, but I knew it was Silver cause of the signal I got.

It was only when I cleaned it thou that I noticed it was a silversmiths handmade Cross.

No makers mark on it and don’t know the exact age of the Cross, but I love the art work on it.

Well this find surely made my Day.

I think the pic doesn't do justice to how massive this thing is. You should maybe weight it. I'd be curious to know its weight.

There is no doubt in my mind this is 18th Century. Too cool. Unless you discover there is some greater historical value Id wear that around my neck.

Two Robert Cruickshank banners in a row, must have been his birthday recently!

Congrats on the AWESOME piece!

Funny seeing some of these posts. I got larger Robert Cruikshank, Narcise Roy etc. fur trade silver broaches years ago and never posted them up.......Anyway, rockin cross. I was wondering to myself if it could have been worn by a missionary. My gut says 1700's somewhere about for it. Congrats on the banner, it is well worth it !

the skull at bottom is normally pre 1900 era////went out of fashion in the late 1800 time frame --so 1880 at earlist to 1700 highly likely --ps I am a catholic
