Morning Hunt - Dump Field '2' - UPDATE

After discovering this field on thurday, I decided to go back with the Silver Sabre with a smaller coil to get amounst the rubbish.

Look at the rubbish I cleared in 2 hours. The pile is deeper than it looks.

See shots of field & some of the broken glass etc.

Lovely day - cool, cloudy & windy, just the way I like it. Plus its rained for a few days.

    UPDATE:

Just had a Railway button which pre dates 1923. Also had a capbadge with 1915 on it. Therefore this dump is of a similar time period to dump 1.(1918-1920ish) Dump 1 is about 800 metres up the hill. However dump 1 seem to have more Military stuff. The story continues......

Nice finds, looks like medieval junk, LOL! I like the Oliver Twist figure and Jetton. Those stubble fields are tough to hunt, I only detect them when I have to or want to for some reason. HH, Mike

Only slacking if I was after them.

I good fisherman can target his species.

My objective for the day was first - Get at least 1 new type of capbadge, which I did.
Second objective was find at least 2 new types of military Button - Which I more than did. Also found a collectable early Railway button, plus, plus, plus

After a 6 hour day & the last hour was in heavy rain, I am pleased with the result. Wait until tomorrow when I can post them all.

Yeap, they are hard work, but my favourite type of field, as the ground has settled. Drilled fields are good but not all my farmers allow me on after seeding it.

Outstanding relics and coins! That pile of metal scraps is impressive.

Do you grid the field or just wander over it at first?

    Congratulations!

I always start a field, which in this case was thursday by doing the edges. I will also look at features & use gut feeling. If its a good field, I will then grid it & cover the WHOLE field. In this case I am just griding the dump area in the bottom 3rd. I have lots of other fields to explore this year including going back & hitting some of my fav.

Such interesting bits of history. Love "Oliver". Is he a child's toy or something used in advertising maybe? Does he date to around WWI?
