You know it's been a while since I posted some finds, I just haven't seen too much noteworthy until today!
Happy to get out digging again with Iron Patch recently and walking down some fields. Some weren't the right ones but a couple yesterday were exactly the right ones!

We got permission for a couple of new fields in a great early area. IP found the site by grabbing a decent Rev War pewter right away so you know anything great can show up.

And..something great did show up...pretty nice 1782 2R!
I think it's been well over a decade since I've last got one those; but really any Spanish is awesome.
We moved on the next place and first signal...bang...Coast Guard button! A new one for me!
I really thought that we hit another great site but it had a lot of junk and the few coins I got there were only last century large cents so the buttons age didn't sync with coins so that place needs a little more attention.
We ended up trying a couple of other fields with little or no success but I did pull out a George ll copper right by the edge of the road on our way home so there's another good reason to get back out there!

This brings back good memories. My first 2 Spanish silvers were 1782-2Rs. I thought they were all going to be big fat ones from then on lol. Then it was all 1s and 1/2s after that. Great coin and button my friend

Only I could miss a Spanish 2 reales from every angle! :BangHead:

And now seeing two of the Coast buttons dug I'll have to add it to my want list! :headbang:

PS: The slope field site is 1830. Probably would have been a better choice than the plowed.

Howdy. Not sure if it's Canadian Coast Guard or U.S. Coast Guard - but if the latter, it wasn't called the Coast Guard until 1915. So if the button has the words Coast Guard on it and is U.S., it's post-1915.

Sincerely,

cgdigger (can you guess what the cg stands for?)

see that must have been what happened...you attacked it at an angle, I just went straight to it

the little site at the bottom where the 2R and the RP came from was the early site
