One helluva hunt! I'd look into the local history to see what you could dig up (every pun intended) on CW Camps/Skirmishes in your area.

Found the 2 on the right this morning. I'm thinking melted bullets? What do ya'll think?

The one in the middle almost looks like it was bitten. It has the same little mark on it repeatedly, like a tooth... maybe?

Tom, you may be right. I have seen where someone has bitten it or an animal has chewed on it.

The back is totally eaten away. It could be a belt buckle or ammo box plate, i guess i will never know. Either way i am happy with it!

OMG!!! Unbelievable day for you. I found my first 2 CW minies this week. A plate would have put me in cardiac arrest. Congratulations

Congrats on your finds. Any Civil War item is a good one. I would take that buckle in a heartbeat.

I was thinking that also , lead tastes sweet 'they say'.

BTW
Awesome first CW finds.

I know a Guy who's first signal was a Shotgun Hull , 2 ed Iron , 3rd a CSA plate.
Since then he has dug most every relic that is common to this N GA area.

Like the 'Foreigner' song goes , " you got Stars in your Eye's"

Congrats. Like others have said keeping hunting it. You stumbled on to a nice site. We found a site like that on my friend's aunt's property and spent literally the next twenty five years hunting it and have found hundreds of bullets and odds and ends. We still go about once a year and always bring back a few mini balls and Spencer casings. Good luck.

Just found these 2 this morning. What kind of bullet do you think the small one is? I have never found one like it. It was deeper than the Minie balls, it was about 10 inches deep.

From the bottom it looks like an enfield or something but not from the side and the length is short. But I'm definitely not a bullet expert. Somebody on TNET will probably identify it when they see the post.

Yeah, i thought it could be a Whitworth but it is kind of small. I don't know, hopefully someone will be able to help out.
