Okay....this is one of our storage unit finds from this weekend. I am really hoping someone can tell me more about it. I think it is very neat but I do not know what language is on it or what kind of coins those are or anything. Would love to know more about it before I try to sell it and I figured you guys would be more likely to know than anyone else I know! Isn't it cool!!! :D

Without seeing the backs of the coins I can only tell you that they look like english 2, 3, 4 ... pence coins (or replicas). I thought those were silver, but yours don't look silver to me.

I'm only going with memory here though - I'm sure someone who knows for sure will post

The coins look like english pennies.

As far as the clock goes, how old is the mechanism(does it take batteries) ?? There are a millon different types of artsy clocks made in the last few years. If it's a wind-up or the guts are made out of gold(Alot of good clocks still have gold-plated tic-toks), then I would have someone look at it. Personally, I think it's pretty cool.

Kind of odd - my first thought was that it was German as well and I think some of it is, but if you look at alot of the names on the map itself, those don't appear to be German to me at all.

I found some links to things similar, and most were in German, but either the pages were no longer active, or the information was old and it was no longer there.

Interesting though

I just checked and it does take batteries...just a small plastic clock box on the back that takes batteries.

I sure appreciate all the help with this! You guys are great!!

That's George VI, his run on commonwealth coins was 1937-1952. The penny in the close-up is pre 1948 though because it still refers to him as the emperor of India.
