Hey, Diggin Dave in Dixon.....Love the SILVER 1943 Mercury Dime with good strong details....one of my favorite coins to find.....Live in Florida now, but born and raised in Knox County area NW-Illinois, but I have hunted many city parks in many of the smaller towns in Illinois while living there for over 45 years......I loved digging in the good black earth there.....just saying. HAPPY HUNTING everyone & GOOD LUCK.

Down the road about 15 miles from DD. The one thing I like about Illinois is the rich black dirt. It seems to favor the old copper, brass, and bronze finds and gives them some sweet patina. If we only had some colonial coppers this far west!:icon_thumright:

The days growing shorter and the nights colder. You got one more silver for the season from the dirt. Well done.:icon_thumright:

Hey, Kevin.....Thanks for your comments.....Yes, Illinois is still my most favorite place to hunt......Illinois is the only state that I have found several Large Silver Morgan & Peace Dollars there. I remember in an old school yard in Sandwich, IL. in the 1970's.....where I found 2 of them in one day, as I recall 1 Morgan & 1 Peace as well as 1 or more silver half dollars and other silver coins, just in 2 or 3 hours.....but I have never been back.....seemed like it sit on kinda of an elevated hill area, near center of town.....just saying, anybody in that area, may wish to check that out....Good Luck & Happy Hunting to everyone.
