Thought I’d make a post haven’t done so in a while. Only been out a few times in the last month or so, I’ll start with today’s finds.

Got out in the woods today before the rain, found a couple fatty Indian head pennies, my first 1859 first issue Indianhead penny, I’m excited about the find. The other Indianhead penny is 1862, May also be a first but I’m not sure I found some fatty Indian head pennies in my day, I’ll have to check dates.

Another cool find from today is a Waterbury Scollvill mfc co Two-piece silver plated button, I’m assuming 1800s if anyone knows any information I’d appreciate it. I will also try to do some Internet research.

Found a couple broken pieces of a Crotal Bell, Horshoe, hook, Ox shoe, Another piece of iron that could be horse tack.

In this post I’m going to include two items from a hunt a few weeks ago I have not posted. A really cool button, Waterville Mfc co. Sportsman button, not sure what type of bird that is on the face but it also has a eagle on the reverse side. From my research I found it was a company that was in business from 1847 to the mid-1850s. Also found a very worn KGII copper.

Thanks for looking, happy hunting.

Congrats on the bucket lister. Your soil is so much kinder to the IHP's than my soil. Good to see you getting out a little bit.

Congrats on the debut of the 1859 first issue Indian Head Cent. I got a nice one this summer and really LOVE it! My favorite US Coin Design and the first year is way flipping cool. Lots of other nice buttons and relic digs. You are onto some very nice old dirt there! Well done.:headbang:

When it comes to indian heads, if given a choice, I'll always go with the fatties. My buddy in college had a similar theory about something completely different. :occasion14: Nice finds!

Peacock, that’s what I was thinking, I did not find a lot on the web regarding these buttons. Mostly a couple past posts on TreasureNet.com. I’ve seen a panther, pheasant, and deer.

Thanks for reply

The bronze ones seem to fair the soil better, form a nice green patina in most cases, but those older fatties are cool.

Thanks for reply
