I went to a site that has been pounded for years. I didn't have much time on the site, but thought I'd try to get in what I could. There was a house there from about 1670 due to the nature of the relics found, and it appears it ceased to exist just after the Revolution. There is a nearby house that dates to about 1820 and burned or fell down by 1880. So there is quite a range of items. So today, here are some pics of some of the more fun items. 18th Century "dot diaper basket" salt glazed pottery piece, 17th- early 18th century salt glazed Rhenish stoneware jug handle base, pewter and lead small size rifle balls (or maybe for a pistol), handmade brass tacks and pictured with them a small lead bale seal with letters "KC and 170-", a 17th century to early 18th century integral cast brass button with drilled wedge shank and a 17th century "nipple" button. All were small targets, but that's not so bad for a site that's been dug for 30 years! After looking since I was eight years old, these are the first of each kind I have ever found. This is my best year yet.

Always a pleasure visiting sites with such a rich history. Great job on those very unique relics.

Although many call them bag or bale seals generically speaking. This one is a Cloth Seal. (which you could say sealed a 'bale' of cloth)

Nice to get a nipple button, I like these because it means I'm close to hammered Country.

As long as I don't wind up on a whole wheat roll, I'm good to go. Going to hammer three sites this weekend. It's all about the time invested.

Right you are brother! :icon_thumleft: A nipple button, always a great find, means you're in Mass Silver territory up in New England. I have a few to post up soon that I just got last week among other finds.

Sure looks like it. They are quite distinctive, and yours fits the bill. The could be found anywhere along the Chesapeake Bay and the major tributaries of it, and that's a whole lot of mileage!
