Welp, it looks like things are all patched
up betwixt me and "AT". Physically and
relationship wise. (see last post regarding
the "physical" part ;) )

I may have gone a bit overboard on the pics
but, I was enjoying myself. :dontknow:

The reason I think I've been forgiven is that
I went to a place where I've stumbled many times
before! The thing is that the place is *notoriously*
stingy when it comes to giving up actual coins!

I took a couple steps, did some vigorous test swings
to see if my fix was going to work. Satisfied, I
started walking. Not 10 feet in, I get this as a
very first good hit:

2017 (776).jpg

Pretty good! But he wasn't through! Another couple
swings and :

2017 (778).jpg

hmmmm.....

2017 (779).jpg

:) Gonna be a good day! LOL

Wasn't a really "big" day as far as number of finds
but I couldn't argue the quality. There are a LOT of
pics of this next find as I felt it was my star of the
day! Even though I simply LOVE finding old coins and
these two indian heads are stars to me in their own right!

But, this button really shined out to me! Not sure why.

Don't think Blingie's too interested.

Fishy seems to have a penchant for milk glass. :dontknow:

2017 (795).jpg

Here's that button again. I've done very little to it
yet. There's some sort of design on the front but I
can't quite make it out. Looks to me like a figure
standing in front of either a mountain or a building

2017 (796).jpg
2017 (797).jpg
2017 (798).jpg
2017 (799).jpg
2017 (800).jpg

This is the only mark I could find. It's either a
bad stamping of the word "PLATED" or it actually
is stamped "PLATEI".

2017 (801).jpg

C'mon button experts! How long do you suspect that
this button has been buried and look how clean and
whole it was coming out! :) Any suggestion for
further cleaning?

If you made it this far, I am IMPRESSED! LOL

Thanks for peeking!

What a great hunt, Whadi, I am sure you are stoked! When I look at your button, I see a Chieftain facing left, standing on the bow of a sailing ship, maybe holding on to a guide rope with his arm outstretched, with patchwork sail (Viking?) behind him, and the hull below him with oars in the water, facing forward. Hey, I can dream, right? Happy Hunting friend, Sub 8-)

As good a guess as anyone has offered thus far.

I know that just about everything we find will prove to be more modern than we'd like and most likely not rare. But, with all the expertise I lack & all the wonderful, knowledgeable people on here, its more than possible that someone will recognize something rare!

I'd hate to just steel wool something and then have someone say I just ruined a very rare piece of history! Yaknowaddameanvern?

Thanks & Happy Thanksgiving!

I give thanks for having a place to share where I'm understood.

Oh Whadi my friend. You have truly outdone yourself on this hunt. Your footsteps being guided directly to some excellent treasures for certain. Love the old Indians. Brass buckles always make me SMILE. The STAR of the show is definitely the big old gorgeous flat button. She has that aged patina that just screams OLD! Not being an expert but, following many others here on T-net who know more than me I would say that button may hit the 1700's. Looks like a colonial relic to me. I have one old button similar made in London that I prize above the rest. Looks a lot like yours here mate. Great hunt and well blessed you are my friend.:hello2::headbang::hello:

Nice finds! I said that to my hunting buddy today at an old cabin site. Be nice to go back in time for a day to see the inner workings. I guess the closest we can come is what you did today. Congrats
