J.C.HIGGINS BICYCLE NECK BADGE

[against the wind]

I hit my neighbors yard as well as my own over the past week. Between the two hunts I managed some clad, 3 Wheat Pennies, some brass parts, a few pieces of aluminum and a J.C.HIGGINS bicycle neck badge. Sears Roebuck and Co. used the JCH name on bicycles from 1947 - 1963.

Cool finds ATW. I am old enough to remember J.C. Higgins brand stuff. I think I remember a friend had a .22 caliber rifle under that trade name. BTW, I just adore green patina on old brass no matter WHAT it is!

Cool head badge...the only one I ever dug was one from about 1898...very collectable artifacts that are often overlooked.

J.C. HIGGINS was actually an employee in the Accounting Department of Sears Roebuck. It was decided to sell items under the J.C. HIGGINS brand.
(His full name was John Higgins , no middle name. Sears decided to add the C. John Higgins eventually retired as the Company Comptroller).
Among the many sporting goods products marketed under the J. C. Higgins brand were; Rifles, Shotguns, Bicycles, Golfing Equipment, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Tennis, Fishing, Boating , Camping, Boxing, and Baseball Uniforms. The J. C. Higgins brand also extended to luggage.
In 1941, Sears Roebuck started to re-label some of their products under the Ted Williams line.
