This early Saxon site is spread over a large area, mostly on 1 side of an old track-way that we think is Roman but might be earlier. Its within the Bronze Age landscape & we get a little from every period other than Iron Age. We also believe the site was left unused since the Saxon period but then later had a Georgian farmstead on it which is no longer there. So the buttons keep us busy.

We only gridded for just over 3 hours;

2 Lead Tokens
Pewter Button with NYM, which I think is the North York Militia. (Another first)
Cru'Dad saved the day, OTWBTTC with a Medieval Horse Harness Pendant:hello2:

Still difficult to track down the coat of arms with the colours visible? That pendant made your day!

Its red & gold checks. I don't have the right resources to track it down but it might be possible.

The upper checks look like double the size of the lower ones. Gives it a higher recall value. Would be cool to know who lost this.

I see what you mean by "keeping you busy" you must have been down digging targets more than you were standing up detecting. Nice spread of finds as usual Crusader. The pendant is awesome. Congrats to you both! :occasion14:

Not sure if you have read our technique but we only take seconds bending over & grabbing the targets (Buttons in this case). The point was more about it keeping our interest level up, otherwise we may not have bothered continuing to grid.
(we never use our knees unless the hole is so deep we can't reach the bottom)

Hi, Semi crouch position with backside resting on the back of one leg, other leg forward with knee bent. Used by Aboriginal for 65,000 years. You can work a ground level all with a straight back and discomfort is nil . Getting back up with ease. Used by Australian mders for over years Confirmed 65,000 years Madjedbebes Site. TP
