Felt like something "old", today. :dontknow:

We all do it, just get tired of all the new stuff
and go somewhere that's "hunted out". ;)

They're calling for snow this weekend so I decided
that even stumbling around in a cornfield was preferable
to having to sit at home. :dontknow:

Here's the take:

2017 (835).jpg

I hadn't heard of this one before. :dontknow:

2017 (836).jpg

Must've been a heavy duty pocket watch. It's kind of
heavy and mostly steel/iron.

2017 (837).jpg

Brass ring, a token clad, and a, too small for a
rifle sling?

2017 (838).jpg
2017 (839).jpg

You can imagine what I thought when I saw this in
the hole. :BangHead:

2017 (840).jpg

Ya know...they're both looking but staying their distance.

;)

Thanks for peeking!

I bet some of that stuff gave off screamer signals. If this is a field where there was an old homesite I'd say there's more there to find. Keep hitting it.

From what I've gathered, the IODEX was an iodine based salve of some sort.
(I opened it too, in case any was wondering, nothing, ;) )

I've been to this field many, many times. Mostly cuz I'd been told it was "hunted out". ;)
There's quite a bit of history to the place and things keep showing up. :)
Lately I've been concentrating on high trash areas and just listening between the iron.
seems to work. LOL

Its a nice place to walk when I'm feeling like looking for something old. :)

Thanks for all the responses!

Nice job on the relics Whadi. Your UMC shotgun shell stands for Union Metallic Cartridge Company. They are now owned by Remington.

I am liking the pocket watch, mainly because the gears are a....kinda gold color.

Wonder if the iodex stung like the iodine did? Nothing like some iodine on a scrape, ouch!

That "reeded" edge must have made the heart beat just a little faster. It would have been great if it was attached to a silver coin instead of an ointment tin, but then there's next time. Those silver coins can't hide forever.

Great walk before the flakes fell.

I found the "Black Club" to be an interesting find.
Today, some people would say it ain't politically correct.
