Went out again for a hunt before the ground froze. As usual the V3i did an amazing job. I got a 1901 no mint Barber from 8", a 1914 S Buffalo form 7", a gold plated cufflink from 7" and some broken pieces and a whole unfired Weatherby 257 WBY MAG. Anyone know any history or age of theses rounds? It would be appreciated . Happy Hunting and stay warm. MackDOg

The*.257 Weatherby Magnum*is a .257 Caliber (6.35*mm) belted bottlenecked cartridge. It is one of the original standard length magnums developed by shortening the.375 H&H Magnum*case to approx. 2.5*in (64*mm). Of the cartridges developed by Roy Weatherby, the .257 Weatherby Magnum was known to have been his favorite, and the cartridge currently ranks third in Weatherby cartridge sales

Great finds MackDog! I'm amazed at the condition of that buffalo nickel. Whenever I pull them out of the ground , they tend to be super zorched. Yours is a beauty! Love the Barber too! Now get back out there and sneak in one more hunt before things really freeze up!

Love those Barbers! Also the Buffalo has great detail and the cuff link is killer. An all-around great hunt, congrats! Ddf.

That's awesome! How many total silver coins? That capped bust Dime out of Spokane is still legendary!! I'm just hoping to find a seated someday.

Got 3 seated here so far. half dime, dime and quarter. Last year dug an 1806 king George 3 farthing. Year Before dug a 1857 Nova Scotia cent. So the stuff is here but rare. I want to go out and find where there were Indian battles and try to get a legit 3 ringer. I notice you use the DFX I switched from it to the V3i. GOod luck, slow down and dig everything deep you'll be surprised. When the target is near the end of your coil range it will have a greater range of VDI. V and BUffalos at 8-9" can read more in the 40-050 range, but once out of the hole they read a solid 19.

Thanks for the tips MD! I've been eyeing some other detectors (CTX, Deus, V3i) but just can't give up on the DFX yet. It still runs like a champ after 12 years of duty and an upgrade is so cost prohibitive. Someday!
