Went out for a few hunts in some pounded areas this weekend and managed to score another gold pocket watch! That’s 2 in a month!

this one is the most intact one I’ve found and it’s very detailed.

is there anyway of knowing if it could be real gold? I see some rust spots where the arms go. I just didn’t know if gold watches had steel on the insides.

It came clean just rinsing it off, it just scratches easy so I didn’t want to get crazy on it.

Also found a Silver Rosie on the way back to my car.

Thanks for looking!

Yes I too was going to suggest opening it for a makers mark. I found a silver trench watch a couple months ago and inside the rear cover were all the makers marks and the silver mark.
Great find.

Thanks everyone! I’m gonna attempt to take it apart tonight. I’ve found some Gold Filled ones in the past, not saying this “Isn’t” but it’s alot more promising than my last one. Either way, it’s a cool find for me.

A really nice find that not everyone thinks about finding. Pity the individual who lost their watch many years ago, but who created your joy today. Like many, I know nothing really about pocket watches, so that would be a whole new avenue of study and research. Congratulations!

Awesome find either way, but I hope it's solid gold. It would be a banner find in my book!

D-N-D, When you get it apart the back cover should be somewhat flexible. If not, it's probably gold filled over a base metal witch could
be silver. looking at your picture it looks a lot like one I found a few years ago, it turn out to be 14 ct gold. I'm hoping you'll have the
same results as I did. TM

Beautiful !!! I didn't find one yet, but, I did buy one.... If it is gold the front and or back cover will be stamped 14K... on the inside.... inside the back cover is the serial number, stamped on the watch frame... if you look up the name and number on line... it will tell you the year it was made.. (mine was a Waltham 1917)
